As a quick preface, if you do not know already, players in Diablo 3 will be able to change their build as often as they like. You can simply switch out your abilities for another build instantly at any time. You can even change your abilities based on the unique monster you are fighting against – it is that easy.
As a result, I have put together a few unusual Diablo 3 builds you can try out just for fun here! One of the most interesting builds so far looks like the melee Wizard. This class has a few abilities which are oriented for melee play, such as the Temporal Sword spell which attacks enemies for 3 hits 35% of weapon damage as physical.
Additionally, the melee Wizard can rune its abilities to give them a shorter range. This allows the class to be quite a bit stronger when dealing with tough enemies. An example of this is the Wave of Force spell, which deals a lot of physical damage to all enemies around the Wizard.
One more cool build you can try out is a thorns build. This would work well for the Barbarian. The Barb’s Tough as Nails talent gives him double thorns damage. You can combine this with the variety of gear that inflicts damage on attack and you will wind up with a set that is actually quite effective.
The trick is to minimize dodge but maximize HP and armor. You want to survive long enough for your thorns set to actually take effect. If you cannot take many hits, then it is not going to work out well for you.
I think that any Thorns set works best if you are just rushing through an area to fight the boss. What I mean by this is that if enemies stop to attack you, if you can kill off the weak ones in one hit without having to stop and swing, no doubt this will speed up your leveling time.
It is certainly an interesting build and one everyone should try out should they get the few drops required to make it good.
